Welcome to Learn Deutsch in Steps. By creating an account, downloading the app, or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
If you disagree with any part of these terms, you must not access or use the service. These terms apply to all users of the app, whether on the web, Android, or iOS.
Learn Deutsch in Steps provides a digital German language learning platform with the following features:

The service "Learn Deutsch in Steps" and its original content, including but not limited to features, design, software, and structure, are protected by copyright.
All intellectual property rights belong to the author and owner of the service, Ensar Ahmetasevic, unless otherwise stated.
Educational content (words, translations, examples) is compiled from publicly available sources and educational materials. The structure, organization, and presentation of this content constitutes original authorial work and is protected by copyright.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, or lease any part of the service or included software without the express written permission of the owner.
Our app features a virtual coin system. Coins can be earned by watching video content, completing learning categories, and reporting bugs. Coins are used exclusively to obtain discounts when purchasing the Super Premium package. All learning categories are unlocked and accessible to all users. Coins have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not transferable between accounts.
Premium and Super Premium subscriptions provide additional features and benefits. All learning categories are accessible without a subscription. Coins earned through app activity can be applied as discounts toward the Super Premium package. Subscriptions are optional and the core learning experience is fully functional without them.
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Payment is charged to your app store account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store settings (Google Play Store → Subscriptions or Apple Settings → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We may change subscription prices. Price changes will be communicated in advance and will apply to the next billing cycle after the change. You may cancel if you do not agree to the new pricing.
Refund requests are handled by the respective app store (Apple or Google) in accordance with their refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.
If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you can restore your purchases through the app store. Active subscriptions are tied to your app store account.
As a consumer within the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason, in accordance with §§ 312g, 355 BGB and the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
For in-app purchases and subscriptions processed through app stores, the withdrawal right is governed by the respective app store's policies. Refund requests should be directed to Apple or Google.
For digital content: By agreeing to immediate access to digital content (e.g., unlocking premium features) and acknowledging that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal, the withdrawal right expires upon delivery of the digital content, in accordance with § 356 (5) BGB.
To exercise the right of withdrawal for direct purchases, you must inform us by means of a clear written statement (e.g., email to contact@learndeutsch.de).
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, except as required by mandatory applicable law.
In accordance with German law (§§ 276, 278 BGB):
Liability for intent (Vorsatz), gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) remains unaffected.
Parts of the educational content, including word translations, example sentences, and app localization, are created using AI-powered tools, as well as a combination of publicly available and educational sources.
While we strive to ensure high accuracy and quality of content, errors, inaccuracies, or contextual deviations may occur. The content of the app serves exclusively for educational and informational purposes and does not constitute official or certified language advice.
Users are encouraged to verify information through additional sources, especially in professional, legal, or formal contexts.
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms of Service.
We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), and the Digital Services Act (DDG).
We reserve the right to modify or replace these terms at any time.
We will notify you of any material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days in advance. The notification will clearly describe the changes being made.
If you do not object to the changes within 30 days of notification, the updated terms are deemed accepted. If you object, your account remains under the previous terms, and either party may terminate the agreement with notice.
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the app settings or by contacting our support. Active subscriptions should be cancelled through your app store before account deletion.
We may suspend or terminate your access for a material breach of these terms, after providing notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the breach (except where immediate termination is warranted for serious violations).
Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Data deletion follows our Privacy Policy (personal data removed within 30 days, backups within 90 days). Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, dispute resolution) shall survive.
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
For consumers within the EU, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply where they offer greater protection.
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr — We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
For users who are not consumers, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Mettingen, Germany.

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that most closely achieves the economic purpose of the invalid provision.
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ensar Ahmetasevic, as the owner and operator of the service "Learn Deutsch in Steps", regarding the use of this service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, or understandings.
These terms are available in multiple languages for your convenience. As required by German law, a legally binding German-language version of our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Impressum is available. In case of discrepancies between translations, the German version shall prevail.
